Gabriel RebeizGeorge PonchakIt is our pleasure to welcome you to the second IEEE MTT-S International Conference on Microwaves for Intelligent Mobility (ICMIM) in San Diego, CA from May 19-20, 2016. The first conference held in Heidelberg, Germany was a great success, and we anticipate a stronger program this year.

Research and development of intelligent vehicles, whether autonomous automobiles and robots or industrial machines, has become a major initiative in many industries. Several companies have demonstrated automobiles in which the “driver” never touches the steering wheel, gas pedal or brake pedal. Modern factories have increased productivity by using intelligent robots that sense where they are, navigate the factory floor and perform intricate functions to assemble complex products. This is only possible due to the use of multiple radar and sensor platforms, efficient and high-speed communications between vehicles, RF and digital signal processing, and the RF and microwave components that enable these systems. This conference is focused on these technologies..

The conference will be comprised of oral sessions, a poster session and invited talks by the leading researchers in the field. A single session track format, breaks and a banquet will allow plenty of time for discussions. There will also be a student paper competition to recognize the good work of our younger members.

We are pleased to organize this conference in San Diego the week before the IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS) organized in San Francisco, which allows you to visit two great cities in California in one trip. Attend the ICMIM in southern California and then travel to northern California to attend the IMS. This should help our international attendees reduce their trip and enjoy a weekend in California.
